Dinner at OJ's, before we head out to MMLDC. Parang pot session, with all the pillows and low tables ahehehe.

The Spider Web Challenge: All team members should be able to cross the spider web without going through a "hole" twice, and without touching any part of the web. If a body part (hair, clothes, etc) touch the web, all members who already crossed should return to the other side and do everything all over again.
![]()
Armand had to go in first because he was the biggest, so that when he's at the other side of the web, can help out in *carrying* the members on to the other side of the web.
![]()
After getting Armand, Van and Aldo to the other side of the web, the group decided that it was the girls' turns to cross the web.
Notice that I (in purple shirt) was still at the other side, holding Marjay so that he won't touch the web, as he helped carry Kat to Armand, who was at the other side of the web.
![]()
And now look! As Jenn is crossing the web, I (again, in purple shirt) am now helping Armand, Aldo, Van and Kat. That means, I already crossed the web! Which means the guys carried me, too! They were able to carry me!!! (Sabi nga ni Armand: "Alam mo Shelley, you're not as heavy as you think". O diba?!?!)
Aww but sadness, we weren't able to cross all the other members through the web. Mia didn't give us extra time, because it was already quarter to 1 and we had to check out of the Creativity Hall of the MMLDC by 1. Sayang. We were so revved up pa naman na kaya namin i-cross lahat through the web.

Ayan, so picture na lang muna. Kaming mga girls happy lang noh, but the boys, mukhang pagod na pagod hahahahha =D
Orientation into the Corporate World, in Pictures
SiteMeter, I Love You
I was looking through my Sitemeter account, checking who has been visiting my site, how long they stay, and how did they get there (the link they followed to get to my site).
One particular visit creeped me out. Here's Sitemeter's record of his/her visit.

Did you see that??? A EEE faculty yahoogroups message had a link to my site! *faints*
The entry and exit page is here, where I talked about Dar's exam cheating, and that I hoped the Dean of Eng'g would go easy on him, since we *knew* the Dean of Eng'g. I couldn't really go to the referring url because, of course, I am not a member of that yahoogroup. One good thing that I hope Sitemeter is accurate about is the visit length, because it lasted 0 seconds daw.
Anyhoo, I looked into the earlier visitors, and lo and behold, there were two other visits referred by that url. Na-intriga nako ha. Ibig sabihin, merong EEE faculty na nakabasa ng entry ko then passed it around through email.
Okay, I am not worried that they'll be reading about me in my blog, but it's about that particular entry they're passing around. They might think that Dean Gev *will* go easy on Dar. Which is not true at all. What Dean Gev has been doing for Dar in this case is to give him guidance, and has been berating him for his actions. My mistake in that entry is believing that Dean Gev will be responsible for the outcome of the case. Which, again, is not true. Dar explained to me the details of the case - a panel of teachers (not necessarily from the EEE faculty) will decide on the case. (Ang pagdedesisyunan lang naman is kung gaano kabigat yung parusa, kasi he will plead guilty naman.) Ayoko lang ma-misinterpret yung entry na yon.
So I looked at the other details of the recent visitors of my blog.

Neways, my entry showed up as the second search result, so I understand kung bakit sya naman ay na-intriga din. Touched naman ako kay Sir Looney, apat na entries ang binasa sa blog ko ^_^
Nga pala, I just want to explain that I'm using Sitemeter not to spy on my readers/visitors, but to see if the new visitors stay on the site or just leave after a few seconds. I also want to see who has been referring my site, so I could link them up as well, but most of the time, referrers are the searches made on Google and Yahoo!. Also, I want to make sure my site is browser-compatible, so that any browser can be able to load it. I noticed pala na 0 seconds naman yung visit nung mga peeps who were referred by that yahoogroup message. Tapos yung mga browsers nila is Netscape. Ayun, kaya siguro 0 seconds yung visit nila kasi di magload nung site ko =(
Hehehe, ayan, so mag-Sitemeter na rin kayo!

The Apology
Last Saturday, while we were waiting for some peeps to leave the movie house, he suddenly turned to me and said this:
Wow.
This was right after I got home from my stay at the MMLDC the night before.
Wow. Kelangan lang pala eh mawala ako ng isang gabi sa piling nya.
This was so unexpected, so out of the blue, so out of the ordinary.
When we'd fight about his attitude/studies/extra-curricular activities or about my smoking/smoking/smoking, he's the one who has to apologize, even if it was about my smoking, because of his temper. His temper really is something to watch out for, and he knows that, and I usually try to keep mine in check, kasi mahirap na kung magkasalubong ang galit namin. And so he apologizes after we kiss-and-make-up. And that's usually about it, because after he apologizes, parang walang nangyari, back to normal sya agad. Para bang na-reset nya agad sistema nya. As for me naman, nadadagdagan ng nadadagdagan yung paghihinakit ko sa kanya.
And so hearing that apology from him, I think a lot of emotional load got lifted from my shoulders. I felt that he still knows me, even though I've been feeling disconnected from him these past few months. My mindset changed from "Mahal ba niya ako talaga?" to "Mahal yata talaga niya ako" (hey, that's an improvement on my part!!!).
Well, that's one cycle gradually being closed. ^_^
Shell, sorry ha. Alam ko minsan unti-unti kitang nasasaktan. At alam ko namang minsan gigil na gigil ka na sakin eh.
Wow.

Bits and Pieces
Today is the second day of the Corporate Orientation for our batch. A whole day devoted to learning more and more and more about Soluziona.
I hope I don't nod off again.
Kakahiya. I was sitting near Elmer pa naman. I really couldn't help it, my eyes were closing themselves!!! Then I *literally* felt the sensation of "falling asleep" because I was trying really hard to resist it.
And then it happened. For a split second, I was off to dreamland.
I snapped back up, awake and full of energy after that *really embarassing* split second.
I really really hope nobody noticed.
---
The Soluziona sportsfest, entitled extreme sportZ (kelangan talaga dominant yung Z hehehehe, will have its opening ceremony on Monday, November 22.
Guess who is one of the team captains of white team? ^_^
As of now, we're busy planning and practising for the cheering competition. Since some readers of this blog may be spies from the other teams (Hi Yayie! hehehe) I won't be divulging any information about our very complicated routine. ^_^
Kaasar nga, makakamiss ako ng practice sessions today because the batch will be at Eastwood, listening and listening and listening to talks and lectures. Haaay... di bale kaya na ni co-captain Tonton yan.
GooooOOOOoooo WHITE!!!
---
After today's session at Eastwood, Mia, our HR girl, and the batch will trek to MMLDC (dunno what the acronym stands for eh), the conference/events center of Meralco in Antipolo. Well, we'll have dinner first pala, then we'll check-in for the night.
Coolness noh? Bakasyon na naman hehehe.
The previous batch (aka Yayie, Toto, Gay, et al) suggested we take lots of pictures with the pelicans and ostriches. (One even suggested we ride the ostrich hahahah) The also said to take advantage of the facilities of the place. My wedding coordinator also said that MMLDC was one of the places she was considering for my reception kasi nga daw super ganda nga daw don.
Oh well, I do hope I can max out what MMLDC has to offer. Can't wait to go there later ^_^
---
Let me leave you with this sentence I got from Paolo Coelho's Closing Cycles:
Sadness, this is so true for me.
Anyways, I'll try to post the whole thing when I get back. I hope I've digested enough of the piece, and have thought about it in MMLDC, para wala na akong issues sa sarili ko. I need to close that poisonous cycle!!!
---
Toodles! ^_^
P.S. Ipagdasal nyo naman na sana eh di ako makatulog sa harap ng mga business unit heads ngayong araw na'to. Salamat po!
I hope I don't nod off again.

Stop turning on your emotional television to watch the same program over and over again, the one that shows how much you suffered from a certain loss: that is only poisoning you, nothing else.
Sadness, this is so true for me.

Sun Tech Days in Manila
Last week, after the long Undas weekend, and after working our butts off for only 2 freaking days, the eMMS team (Tonton, Ketket and Armand) together with Yayie, Archie, Ken, Trisha and Sherry, trekked to the Manila Shangri-la for two days of everything Java.
One good thing I absolutely loved about the conference was the free food from Manila Shangri-la! Breakfast, lunch, merienda and cocktails after the conference were absolutely free ^_^ Pero didn't partake in the cocktails coz it was late na eh.
One more good thing was the freebies! All participants of the conference got a Sun messenger bag and a conference kit with a notebook and pen. Meron silang pakulo wherein an activity card was to be stamped by people from the different sponsors' booths and then you get corresponding number of points. Then these points can be exchanged for Sun money. With your Sun money, you can "buy" more Sun souvenirs like a shirt (150 Sun bucks) or a mouse (500 Sun bucks). I was able to accumulate 490 Sun bucks, and so I "bought" a Sun radio (with a built-in flashlight! Coolness hahahah!) for 300 Sun bucks and a shirt.
But I wasn't just there for the freebies! I came to learn more about Java! And as nerdy as this sounds, I did learn more about what's going on with Sun and Java!!!
Sun Java System RFID Software Sobrang coolness nito! RFID tags are poised to replace the bar code technology because unlike the UPC (universal product code) currently being used, the EPC (electronic product code) being used by the RFID tags has a unique ID for each and every individual item of a product because it has enough number of bits. One of the sessions talked about how Sun developed the Event Manager and Information Server using Java and Jini technology to manage and maintain RFID systems. Kaka-excite lang, because the Meralco MMS (Materials Management System) can really benefit from this kind of technology. Pero asa pa talaga na gawin 'to ng Meralco hahaha.
Sun Java Studio Creator and JavaServer Faces
Whaat?!? Kakadigest ko lang ng struts tapos ngayon faces naman?!? Anyways, the cool thing about this session was that they used Sun Java Studio Creator to create a web application by just using drag-and-drop! Coolness! Therefore, itapon na ang Eclipse hahahha!
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0
One of the cool things that J2SE 5.0 has to offer is the autoboxing and auto-unboxing of primitive (object) data types to their corresponding object (primitive) types. One more thing is the enhancement of the for-loop into the for-each loop. One more cool development is the Generics object. Read more about the other revisions here.
Oooh did I sound like the dork that I really am?!? Hahaha. Bottomline is, the Sun Tech Days was a blast. Definitely looking forward to it next year. ^_^
---
P.S.
I saw a friend of mine from U.P. during the conference, and he took my picture, and nagpa-cute naman ako. He sent me the pic a few days ago, and since he also reads my blog, made a really funny connection with one of the pics posted in my blog:

Mag-ina daw talaga kami ng anak ko!
Hahahha! Toodles! ^_^
My Holiday Movie Itenerary
I was browsing through Yahoo! Movies and E! Online and came across their holiday movie guides: here's the one from Yahoo! and the one by E! Online. There are a lot of good movies coming out in November and December, I just had to sort out which ones I really want to see. (That is, good enough for me to pay for a seat in a cinema, instead of a DVD copy hehehe)
After The Sunset
November 12, 2004
Pierce Brosnan * Salma Hayek * Woody Harrelson * Don Cheadle
I love heist movies (Entrapment, The Italian Job, Ocean's Eleven)! And I think I might love this one because of the lovely and sexy Salma Hayek!
Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek plays retired jewel thieves, who retired on a tropical island, and Woody Harrelson as the FBI agent who tracks them down.
Alexander
November 24, 2004
Colin Farell * Angelina Jolie * Anthony Hopkins * Rosario Dawson * Val Kilmer
The story of the greatest conqueror of them all. More hot guys in skirts (ala Troy hehehe).
The Aviator
December 17, 2004
Leonardo diCaprio * Cate Blanchett * Kate Beckinsale * Alec Baldwin
The story of the young Howard Hughes as he puts up a movie production company, designs aircraft, and woos the loveliest movie actresses.
I can't wait to see Gwen Stefani, Kate Beckinsale and Cate Blanchett play glamour girls of the 40's.
Bad Education
November 19, 2004
Gael Garcia Bernal * Fele Martinez * Leonor Watling * Francisco Boira * Lluis Homar
Got me interested not just because of Gael Garcia Bernal (Y Tu Mama Tambien), but the so-called "bad education" was from a Catholic school.
Blade: Trinity
December 8, 2004
Wesley Snipes * Kris Kristofferson * Ryan Reynolds * Jessica Biel * Parker Posey
Buffed-up Ryan Reynolds (Alanis Morissette's fiance!!! Van Wilder Party Liaison!) and Jessica Biel joins Blade in the ultimate battle against Dracula.
Bride and Prejudice
December 25, 2004
Aishwarya Rai * Martin Henderson
A Bollywood version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, can you imagine?!?
Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason
November 12, 2004
Renee Zellwegger * Colin Firth * Hugh Grant
Loved the first one, loved the book, loved Hugh Grant!
Down with fuckwittage!
Closer
December 12, 2004
Julia Roberts * Jude Law * Natalie Portman
Jude Law and Natalie Portman as a couple?!?! Whoa, I just have to watch this one!
This one's based on play about betrayals between two couples which gets more complicated when the man from the first couple gets it on with the woman of the second couple. Ohhh, the knots you can knot!
Finding Neverland
November 12, 2004
Johnny Depp * Kate Winslet
This movie is James Barrie (played by Johnny Depp) and the journey who takes as he weaves the magical story of Peter Pan.
The Incredibles
November 5, 2004
Craig T. Nelson * Holly Hunter * Samuel L Jackson * Jason Lee
Just watched this movie yesterday, and I must say, Pixar did it again. Dar, Darice and I had so much good laughs, and really enjoyed the movie.
In Good Company
December 29, 2004
Dennis Quaid * Topher Grace * Scarlett Johansson
A kid takes over your company, then woos your daughter?!? I'm definitely intrigued! E! Online says it has sheer mindless brilliance, but also has a lot of heart, so that really got me because I think I need to watch more positive movies.
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
December 17, 2004
Jim Carrey
Oooh, Jim Carrey as a cunning Count who is out to get the inheritance of three orphans... count me in!
This movie is based on a series of "bothersome" books "written" by the "afflicted" author Lemony Snicket, and illustrated by the "ill-fated" illustrator Brett Hellquist. Read more about these books here.
Meet the Fockers
December 22, 2004
Ben Stiller * Teri Polo * Robert De Niro * Blythe Danner * Dustin Hoffman * Barbra Streisand
Enjoyed the first one immensely, so I'm hoping this one's just as enjoyable too. I can't wait to see Barbra Streisand act as Ben Stiller's mom!!!
Also, I feel like this is my story: my family's so straight, while Dar's family is so loopy (I meant that in a good way). So I'm hoping I could score some advice on how to go about merging our families, hehehe.
National Treasure
November 19, 2004
Nicolas Cage * Diane Kruger * Harvey Keitel * Sean Bean
The trailer reminded me of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons! Enough said I guess, because that means more clues found in historical objects (like the map, it's on their Declaration of Independence! Coolness!)
This is one adventure movie I won't miss!
Ocean's Twelve
December 10, 2004
George Clooney * Brad Pitt * Matt Damon * Julia Roberts * Catherine Zeta-Jones
Another heist movie, this time with the best looking thieves heading to Europe for a new caper.
Hope Catherine Zeta-Jones do not act as a jinx and ruin their plans hehehe.
Spanglish
December 17, 2004
Adam Sandler * Téa Leoni * Paz Vega
(Hihihi... I'm on a Spanish mode hahaha.)
Adam Sandler and Tea Leoni plays a couple whose lives and family are changed by their Spanish housekeeper and her daughter.
I hope Adam Sandler succeeds in pulling off this serious comedy from James L. Brooks.
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie
November 19, 2004
SpongeBob SquarePants * Patrick Star * SquidWard * Mr. Krabs
I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready!!!
The Woodsman
December 24, 2004
Kevin Bacon * Kyra Sedgewick
A pedophile returns to his hometown and tries to start his life anew. He starts romancing someone, and wrestles his demons when he meets a 12 year old girl.
Creepiness.
A Very Long Engagement
November 26, 2004
Audrey Tautou * Gaspard Ulliel * Dominique Pinon * Jodie Foster
I was a bit hesitant about this because it is a war movie, and it could be a loooong war movie (because of the title). But it's from the director of Amelie, and Audrey Tautou of Amelie stars in the movie too, so I'm hoping this war epic can turn out as heartwarming as Amelie was.
---
P.S. Dar, if ever you're reading this, wag kang bibili ng mga DVDs ng mga movies na yan ha! Gusto ko yang mapanood sa sinehan. ^_^

movie posters and information from Yahoo! Movies and E! Online ^_^

P.S. Dar, if ever you're reading this, wag kang bibili ng mga DVDs ng mga movies na yan ha! Gusto ko yang mapanood sa sinehan. ^_^

The Long (but bitin) Weekend
Dapat kasi walang pasok hanggang November 2 eh, hmp.
---
We stayed at Fontana for the long weekend. It's been a tradition already for the family, since 1998, to stay there for Halloween, All Saint's Day, and All Soul's Day. What we do is check in there, settle down for a while, then go to Tarlac to visit our dearly departed.
When we were kids, we used to stay in my Uncle's house. We usually have a blast because all our cousins are there, collecting candle drippings and making them into these humongous wax balls. But since our family has grown and grown, di na kami kasya don. And since we've all grown up, or grown older, di na rin keri ni Mommy ang mag-stay don. Besides, it won't be much fun because the cousins my sisters and I play with are now all married and have children. Yup, Darice has second cousins already.
And so the weekend at Fontana.
There was a Trick or Treat for the kids, as usual. Two years ago, Darice went as a witch, and then last year, as a princess (na tinutuhanan talaga nya ang pagkaprinsesa kasi napaka-bratty sya non). Being the craftster wannabe that I am, and having loads of free time, I just made the witch and princess costumes. But this year, being the lazy person that I am, and having tons to do at work, and feeling aches and pains all over my body, she just wore the gown she wore in Ate Ella's wedding. Payag naman sya, and besides, I made her wings naman, to make her look like a fairy princess (actually, she looked more of a butterfly because of those weird wings I made).
She wouldn't have her picture taken during the trick or treat itself (don't ask me why, I'm just her mother =P ) and everytime I'd point the camera at her, she'd say, "No picture, no picture!" Feeling artista ang anak ko noh?!
Well, they had a face painting booth at the event, and good thing Darice wanted me to take a picture of her face painting. Na-excite ang bata.
Ang arte ng anak ko noh? ^_^

And so, aside from Trick or Treat, the kids had a blast at the Fontana Waterpark.
With Darice are my cousins, Micah and Toni, who are Darice's Titas already hehehe. (And their mom, my Tita Jing, is already a Lola at a young age of 36 hahahha)
---
You'd think, parang yung mga bata lang nag-enjoy ah.
Actually, I enjoyed the bountiful servings of food last weekend ^_^
My parents and my Tita Jing were the only ones who went to the Tarlac to visit the cemetary (we were currently splashing around with the kids at the water park). And when they got home....
Dinuguan, barbecue, inihaw na tilapia, lechon kawali, all kinds of goat dishes (erm, normal lang ang kumain ng kambing okay?) from our relatives. I thought I was going to faint with all the food. God, how I missed the Ilocano way of cooking (since I am living with Bicolanos - Dar's family - now).
And then for dinner, as if we didn't eat enough for lunch, we ate at Luk Foo. Patatim, spare ribs, peking duck, pancit, yang chao fried rice, beef tenderloin -- it's as if we couldn't have enough food in our stomachs hahahha. But well, since we did eat so much during lunch, we had a few doggy bags when we went back to the villa. (Di rin pala kami ganon katakaw)
---
Ahh yes, a weekend of kabondatan for me and Dar, and a weekend of play for Darice. Good thing pala it did not extend up to November 2 at baka balyena nako ngayon hehehe.
Toodles. ^_^
