Ten Things...

...why I cannot update as often as I want to:

1. wedding preps blog

Have been scouting the net for ideas on how the hell will I be able to incorporate my denim motif on the invitations, decorations, souvenirs, etc. I've only thought of something for the souvenirs (or kung di matuloy yon, save-the-dates na lang) and I'm still going to check with my coordinator friend kung ok ba yung idea ko. Check my updates here.

2. wall climbing

This is for the never-ending SZ sportsfest. So ganito for wall climbing, we have a speed climb, and a technical climb. Speed climb, pabilisan syempre, around 20-25 feet yung wall. There are 10 marked holds all in all, tapos paramihan na lang na ma-touch na holds.

As team captain of course, I have to play for our team if I can't get anybody to play. I only got 2 players, L and F, eh kelangan tatlo para sub yung isa, if ever may ma-injure.

L got 17 seconds, so oks na yon. So ako na sa second game. Fuck, 30 seconds ang best time ko. Haller! Ang record sa speed wall was like 16 seconds hahaha :D It took me almost twice as long to climb the wall!

So third game. Dapat L and F na uli. Then finals na, battle for third place. Oh no! Nagtext si F, it was her time of the month! *Faint* So as sub, ako na lalaro for technical! *Faint uli* [Pressure! Pressure! Pressure!]

Hahahaha... so anyways, I got to touch 6 holds before screeching out loud and letting go of the wall. That was on my second attempt, as my first attempt I fell agad when I got ahold of the 3rd rock hahaha :D

Katuwa lang sobra during my *victorious* second attempt, because *everybody* was cheering for me, as in lahat, kahit yung kalaban!

Nga pala, games are held on different days ha... So on a span of 3 weeks yung wall-climbing adventures ko. :)

3. badminton

And would you believe we still have time to play badminton? :P We played at Olympic sa Eastwood, na mejo mahal ha kasi 250 per hour and may guest fee pa. Pero maganda naman yung place.

Then we also tried Moro sa Ateneo. Mas mura kasi 200 per hour and no guest fee! Sad thing nga lang, kasi merong na-injure sa group namin that night. Tinamaan ng racket sa bridge ng nose nya :( We rushed her to Medical City para ma-X-ray yung nose nya. The next day they told us na she had a nasal bone fracture and may slight scratches sa left eye nya. Wawa naman :( The doctor said na she could go for an operation for the fracture, pero she got a second opinion who said na ok lang kahit hindi.

4. gym!

And would you believe nakakapag-gym pa ako? Well once a week lang :( Nasasayangan nga ako kasi mga 4 times lang ako nagpunta for the month of February eh. Oh well.

5. Darice's exam

Haaay, eto talaga kelangan karerin.

Ang hirap pa dito, sa Math nila, meron ng silang lesson na time-telling and counting money (bills and coins)! Whatda?!?! As in 5, 10, 15 up to 60!

6. office pre-long-weekend gimik

After 10,000 years, nakainom uli! Had dinner at Fazoli's with my office batchmates, then we were supposed to go bowling or singing sa videoke. Pero some oldies were hogging the mic, so dun na lang kami sa baba. The beer drinkers all got the 1L mug draft beer special for 99 pesos. [No choice, kasi yung San Mig Light nila na one bottle costs 49 bucks! Ang mahal]

Went home around 1 am. Which Dar did not like.

7. family reunion of sorts

Met up with my cousin Ate Eva, who I haven't seen for ages kasi she migrated na sa States with her husband.

8. Armand's good-bye gift

So, nagresign na si A, my 6'2" seatmate. Di na nya tinuloy yung next 6 months na probie sya. Na-bato na ng tuloyan sa office nyahahah.

Since everybody was busy-busy sa MMS, ako na ang umako ng pag-isip ng token for him. Haggard, kasi lumabas na naman ang aking craftiness. Saw these rubber foam thingies sa National, and sa sobrang tuwa ko, ginamit ko sa naisip ko na scrapbook for A. Na-touch naman sya heheh, well dapat lang noh! ^_^

9. somebody hogging the computer

Everything is second to Ragna. If I cannot wait, then sasabahin nya na "Eh kasi di ka makapaghintay eh!".

10. just tamad :(

Haay... just had a very busy busy busy last two weeks of Feb and so I'm so bushed. I'm so tamad na to get off the bed after wall climbing/badminton gym. I'm so tamad na after *finally* puede nako gumamit ng computer. Ang gusto ko na lang talagang gawin is to sleep.

Which I'm going to do right now.

Toodles and g'night! ^_^

HVD

I had the typical Valentine's Day, with stuffed toys, chocolates and flowers given by the adoring male population.

Not! :P Hahaha. Well, it sorta happened, but I know only one of the guys adored me. :D

To give everyone a chance to enjoy the day of hearts, our company organized a big Valentine's exchange-gift-of-sorts. We received envelopes (ang paos actually, as they distributed it during the Chinese New Year) with the name of our SZ Soulmate, the one we were supposed to make feel special on Valentine's Day. I think the ratio of guys and girls in our company was around 1:1 so I think all the girls got guys and all the guys got girls.

I got E.B., who was assigned to a far-away project in Makati. I gave him chocolates (Flat Tops lang hehehe) and a blue-flame lighter, since I knew he was also a smoker. I just asked Mia, our HR, to take it to Eastwood. I do hope he visits Eastwood before all those chocolates get moldy hahahaha.

B.E., who was also assigned in Meralco (sa I.T. naman sya) was the one who got me for an SZ soulmate. He gave me this small white bear holding a red heart. Awww. :P

Jimelle had a trio of SZ singers (Mia, Tracy and MJ) to sing for Jay. Mia had a game of look-for-your-sz-soulmate for Van. Toto naman did that for Jimelle.

Little did I know I would also be looking for my MMS soulmate. :P

For everyone to enjoy the *romantic* spirit of Valentine's day, we decided to have our own Valentine's-day-exchange-gift gimik in MMS. We called it MMS Day, that is, Make Me Special Day mwahahahha. They already did it for last year's Valentine's Day, and all their kuwentos about it made me excited to do it again for this year. Again, bunutan din, and you have to make that person feel special nga.

Monday, around 2pm, I was toiling hard at work when Aldo (our batch's John Lloyd clone) approached my table and handed me a note and a pack of Flat Tops. It said:

To Amazing Soulmate Shelley,

Happy Valentine's Day!

Welcome to "Where in the world is my amazing Soulmate?" Unscramble the letters below to find your Amazing Soulmate. Once you're sure whose name the letters below spell, go to that person and say the magic words "Are you my amazing soulmate?" If you're correct the person will give you another clue which will help you find your amazing soulmate. If you give up guessing who the letters in the word spell, just go to that person that gave you that clue and ask for the answer. But in order to get the answer, you must do the consequence that the person asks you to do.

Good luck! Deadline is 3 PM.

Amazing Soulmate

I thought it was from my SZ Soulmate! So then I unscrambled the letters, which lead me to Sherwin. Then Sherwin's clue led me to the 11th floor to Dennis. Fortunately, Dennis' clue led me to Ken, who was at the same office. Then Ken's clue led me to our office, to Tonton.

All the clues came with chocolates. I had a bunch of chocolates already, and it was already few seconds before 3pm, when Tonton gave me the clue. Ahhh... the clue led to Toto. I gave the magic words: "Are you my amazing soulmate?" He grinned, "Tsk, past the deadline ka na, 3 na ah!" I almost screamed, "Akin na yung clue!" but then he just gave me a mischievous grin and a chocolate bar. Realization hit me! "Ikaw?" Tawa naman sya... I knew Toto got Jimelle as his SZ soulmate, so I guess Toto was the one who got me for MMS Day, hehehe. I need to lose a few pounds for me to consume all the chocolates he gave me!

As the day was ending, I was feeling kind of bummed out because Dar and I had no plans whatsoever for Valentine's Day. But then, naisip ko na lang na we did go out naman na last Saturday, so I guess that's it na. And, I knew he wasn't going to pick me up, because his mom forbade him to drive muna because he had an accident last weekend (very minor lang naman pero expensive repair pa rin).

I was surprised to receive a message from him saying that he was going to pick me up. The MRT that he was riding got stalled at the Boni station, and since it was already 5pm, he decided to pick me up na rin and so he got a cab. When I got inside, I was pleasantly surprised to find roses waiting for me! He bought it pa sa Makati, rode the masikip na MRT, holding the roses in one hand, and holding on for dear life with the other. So forgive him daw kung mejo lupaypay na yung mga roses. He was aiming to get to Meralco before 5pm, so that he could just ask the guards to deliver it to me, para daw ma-receive ko sa office. (Awwww!). Pero yun nga, he didn't expect na mahirapan na makasakay sa MRT, so he just picked me up, to give me the roses na rin. :D

So that was my HVD, receiving the conventional stuffed toy, chocolates and roses, in a most unconventional circumstances. ^_^

Hope you had a great one, too!

Quizzes on a Sleepless Night

I can't sleep, and I only have half-decent thoughts inside my head. I would love to write something about something (see? not even half-decent) but really, brain cells are not functioning that well.

So I went to BlogThings for some mindless fun. ^_^

Bagay sa Balentayns:

You Are A Romantic Realist
You are more romantic than 30% of the population.
You tend to be grounded when it comes to romance. Sure, you can fall hard... but only for someone you've gotten to know. And once you're in love, you can be a total romantic goofball... But you'd never admit it to your friends!

Are You Romantic or Realistic?

Totoo. I am a romantic-realist. I never admit it to my friends kasi I don't want them to think na masyado ko ng mahal yung taong yon. And siguro para di na rin ako maging exag sa aking display of affection.

Anong klaseng blogger ako:

You Are a Life Blogger!

Your blog is the story of your life - a living diary.
If it happens, you blog it. And make it as entertaining as possible.

What kind of blogger are you?

Obvious naman - my blog is the story of my life. Although 1/8 lang siguro ng buhay ko ang nandito sa blog, I try to write about the most important things that happen to me. [Except for tonight, wherein this is really a nonsensical post.]

Gano katanda ang kaluluwa ko:

You Are a Newborn Soul

You are tolerant, accepting, and willing to give anyone a chance. On the flip side, you're easy to read and easily influenced by others. You have a fresh perspective on life, and you can be very creative. Noconformist and nontraditional, you've never met anyone who's like you. Inventive and artistic, you like to be a trendsetter. You have an upbeat spirit and you like almost everything. You make friends easily and often have long standing friendships.
Implusive and trusting, you fall in love a little too easily.

What Kind of Soul Are You?

True - tolerant, accepting, easy to read, creative, nonconformist, nontraditional, trendsetter [ha!], like(s) almost everything, make friends easily, have long standing friendships, impulsive and trusting. Not true anymore - easily influenced by others and fall(s) in love a little too easily. I'd like to think I'm more jaded now.

So there. Good night. I'm finally ready to sleep.

On Plagiarism

Got an email from sassylawyer:

I came across kuro.ph via Google. I was shocked to find that many of my blog entries had been plagiarized and posted there. The "bopis" recipe in http://www.kuro.ph/forums/showthrea...39&page=2&pp=15 was copied, word for word, from my food blog http://cooking.houseonahill.net/ind...d/recipe/bopis/ The Board Master who calls himself "Fireman" is a plagiarist. Princeedward is also a plagiarist. The pork satay and pinaupong manok recipes, including the photos, were also copied from http://cooking.houseonahill.net. I am demanding for the removal of Fireman and Princeedward from the Kuro.ph forums and all their postings deleted. I have posted the above in the kuro.ph forums. But it will help if I can have your support. Whatever form of support will be appreciated, whether blog entries or otherwise. If you know of any other blog entries that have been plagiarized, please post an entry about it in your blog or in PinoyBlog. Let us mobilize our community in the fight against plagiarism on the internet. Thank you.

This is not the first time I've come across people lifting text, pictures, or even bandwidth from blogs. Last year, I came across areyouinthemoodforsomedude's infuriated entry about some loser copying his entries, and even streaming his music, from his own paid webhosting service! Turns out that the loser was not only stealing from dude, but from other bloggers as well.

Kapal! The anti-thesis of a blogger, tsk tsk.

And now, it's sassylawyer's turn. Her recipes and pictures from her cooking blog were being posted on a forum. Haller. The sassylawyer also found out that some of the posts there (in the cooking forum) were being lifted from other cooking sites as well, without due credit!

Readers of dude and sassylawyer have suggested a number of ways to prevent losers from copying text and graphics from their blogs. I am still very lax about security on my site (di man lang naka-disable ang right-click - mejo naiirita kasi ako sa mga sites na disabled ang right click eh sowi!) kasi feeling ko wala naman talaga silang makokopya sa site ko. Pero I might start implementing some kind of anti-plagiarism mechanism dito sa blog ko, pero I might ask for some help muna from the genius ramil. (Naks)

And so to all of you bloggers out there, be very very careful. Implement some kind of tracking device on your blog, that way you can keep track of who visits your blog. Disabling right-click is not enough. Also, don't forget to site your references. Be a responsible blogger.

I hope this entry has opened our eyes on how plagiarism is prevalent on the internet. Prevent your blog/journal/site from being copied, and be a responsible blogger as well.

As sassylawyer said on her email, Let us mobilize our community in the fight against plagiarism on the internet.

On Coffee, Purple and ... Badminton?!?

My officemates know how I love coffee. And they also know how I got so obssessed with the Starbucks planner at the start of the year. [I only started collecting stickers last January 5, and the last day of the promo was January 15. I had 21 stickers to collect, and that meant 21 cups of coffee in 10 days.] And so, a Starbucks mug for the girl who drinks coffee three times a day.

Thank you, MMS peeps! I've always wanted to buy one for myself! ^_^

My office batchmates also know how crazy I am over the color purple. And so, they gave me these assorted objects all in the color, what else, purple! That's a pillow, a mousepad, Kotex panty liners, a toothbrush, a kikay bag, and an I-don't-think-it's-purple ashtray. I brought everything home, except for the mousepad, which I'll be using in the office, and of course the ashtray, because I really don't think Dar would approve, heheheh...

Thanks Batch 2k3 and 2k4! ^_^ Andami kong purple na gamit woohoo!

Ahhh... the most surprising gift of all.

Dar picked me up from work. He then asked me if I wanted to play badminton with my office mates, who were currently playing in LBC that night. I reacted with a what-the-hell look, and just said that I already declined, because it was my birthday. But he kept pushing and pushing, and I finally got a little irritated, and answered with a "Bakit ba?". And then he said, "Para magamit mo na yung badminton racket mo". I gave a happily surprised shriek of "Ba't mo ko binilhan ng racket??!!"

Thank you to all who remembered, who sent text messages and emails, who called me up to greet me last Monday. You guys made my day!

Toodles!
