Scanner Happy

My dad, who is a SAHD (stay-at-home dude :P), has been scanning old pictures this week (bago kaya scanner nila?) and has been sending some of the scanned images to me the past few days.

First email, with subject: Our First Baby and Car

The First Baby and Car

Yes, I look like a troll. And I already have a protruding tummy 28 years ago.

Another email he sent was with subject 3 Marias. Body of the email read "wala pa ang dalawang asungot" referring to my younger brothers. Heh.

[oh hey my sisters will kill me for this hahahahha but beware of 80s hair and fasyon!]

10 Years Ago: Doing the Deed

From here:

"So... tayo na ba?", he asked.

I fidgeted, although a smile was creeping up my lips. "Ikaw..."

"Anniv na natin ngayon, para di na maraming tatandaan na dates", he said, grinning.

"Tanungin mo muna ako..." I was trying to be hard-to-get! I wanted him to ask me if I wanted to be his girlfriend -- a long time cheesy romantic fantasy of mine.

He hesitated a bit. "Mahal mo ba ako?"

Although I became mildly disoriented by the question, I didn't hesitate and answered, "Oo".

And it got sealed by a kiss.

Although I was asking myself, "Mahal ko na nga ba sya?"

And as we held each other tighter, and the kiss deepened, and my heart beat faster and faster, I threw caution to the wind, and thought with a resolve, "Mahal ko na nga sya".

Oktoberfest 120

The first and only time I've been to Oktoberfest was four years ago. It was opening night, and was held in Metrowalk, which was walking distance from where I worked. We didn't need to look for parking, because my officemates can just leave their cars wherever they parked that morning, and then walk to Metrowalk for free beers and music.

Oh boy, if only we knew that free beers and music also included having to rub elbows with *undesirable* people. And that the free beer meant stale draft beer in plastic cups. And that it would be a bitch looking for a place to make tambay as we watch the performers.

Oh, and that we'd have beer thrown haphazardly at us by over-eager Oktoberfest goers [read: drunk men who were getting excited over True Faith's performance].

I swore to everybody I was with that day that I will never ever go to an Oktoberfest opening ever again.

Never ever again.

But hey, guess who was at San Miguel Avenue last September 5, trying to elbow her way in through the crowd, as *undesirable* people were rubbing themselves all over her body [I hope, unintentionally, of course]?

Yes, I've eaten my words, and *nom nom* hmm tastes good, if slightly bitter. Heh.

It was a gold ticket after all. 3eb + 5 beers + food + airconditioned tent = SULIT NA NOH. Kahit na sabihin na natin na we still had to go through hell to enter the venue and the VIP section, and that paubos na yung food when we got to the tent, and we only got 3 out of our 5 beers. Hehehe.

Okay feetur-teking time!

10 Years Ago: Can't Hardly Date

But let's backtrack a day first.

So, its the day after the phone call

[You'd think with a guy, who I was into, professing his like for me will be enough for me. But no. This other guy (codenamed Simon) I was into was also all over the place! I mean, I would see Simon only about twice a week, but that day after the phone call I saw him twice! Oh well, when it rains, it's four. Heh.]

He drove me to three of my classes -- one at Eng'g, then at Math, then back to Eng'g. My blockmate and I sat-in in his Kom II class, with our press release being that we were there because of my blockmate's BFF (the BFF was really in his class). But obviously we were there because of him. And meron pang pa-akbay-akbay na ginawa sakin after their class! Okay lang naman sakin, wala akong reklamo, hahaha!

And oh my, the tuksuhan sa tambayan.

So sue me if my heart couldn't contain the kilig that day.

And that's why, with our almost-requisite-already phone call that night, I asked him out.

Okay, so you're back in your seats? [I'm thinking either you fell, or you barfed]

Eh naman kasi, ang pakipot! Parang paikot-ikot yung pinaguusapan ata namin nung gabing yon, alam ko naman na dun rin hahantong!

And with the title of this blog post, I guess you know what movie we watched, eh?

"So what did you see in Boracay?"

On our first morning, we saw clouds.

Dreary morning

Lots of them.

10 Years Ago: Crush

10 Years Ago: Crush

I don't know what happened during that phone call, or why he called in the first place. Basta at the end of that conversation, he confessed that he has a crush on me.

Obviously, September 2, 1998 ended on a high note for me.

I don't remember though if I confessed I had a thing for him too during that conversation. Heh.

I know it all sounds or looks GP-rated, when everything happened during our second year in college already. I assure you things will take on a more R-rated turn the next few days ;)

Legen - wait for it - dary: Eraserheads Reunion Concert

I have a confession to make: I am from UP Diliman, and during my extended stay I have NEVER watched the Eraserheads play live during any UP event that had them as a guest.

Strict ang parents ko eh.

But I have seen them perform live before college.

I was in first year high school ('93-'94) the first time I have ever heard of them, and frankly, I didn't like them that much. But then, I saw them perform live, for the first time ever, during the HS fair variety show -- and I fell in love.

I fell in love with the band, the songs, and yes, I fell in love with Ely.

Fast forward to almost 14 years later.

And I realize, having seen them perform live again, I am still in love.

With Ely, with the Eraserheads, and with their music.
