Crash

After dear hubby was making kalikot our PC after reformatting our main hard drive, our secondary 160 GB hard drive can no longer be detected.

All my freaking files -- GONE.

No more installers.

No more MP3s.

No more videos.

No more scrapbooking kits.

No more pictures.

Can I just crawl under a rock and cry? :(

  1. Aw! I'm so sorry!
    *offers virtual hanky*

That happened to me a LOT of times and you know what, I just dealt with it and moved on.

Patingin mo kaya sa qualified computer technician? Baka may marecover pa or something? :-)

  2. thanks talamasca...

but my dear hubby is already a techie guru, although not a qualified computer technician (kahit na nagfi-feeling sya na ganon sya :P) so if he can't do it, i don't think anybody can :(

and i don't think i'll be able to convince him to have somebody else look into it kasi ma-pride yun :P

haaay. just so many memories kasi... hirap lang mag-let go :(

  4. Yeah, I think it's not over yet, unless na-fdisk niyo or physically may damage yung harddrive.

Usual na sira ng back up drive ko is with yung wires na ng motherboard or the little tab/jumper thing sa likod is misconfigured.

Sayang eh. Ikaw na lang magpacheck sa kung kanino if ok pa siya or not.

its probably a hard drive controller issue -esp if its amd/nvidia board

anyways three things you can do.

    1. hook the HD to another PC
    2. put the HD in an external HD case like the one from maxtor
    3. recover the file using dos/win utilities (the hd is not really dead as long as it powers on). google for "hard disk recovery tools" and then emule for it :-)

    rejoinder:

seeing thats its a 160g drive you have to load raid controller and sata controller (if its sata) on the bootup. your bios documentation ill help you on this)
