Oktoberfest 120

The first and only time I've been to Oktoberfest was four years ago. It was opening night, and was held in Metrowalk, which was walking distance from where I worked. We didn't need to look for parking, because my officemates can just leave their cars wherever they parked that morning, and then walk to Metrowalk for free beers and music.

Oh boy, if only we knew that free beers and music also included having to rub elbows with *undesirable* people. And that the free beer meant stale draft beer in plastic cups. And that it would be a bitch looking for a place to make tambay as we watch the performers.

Oh, and that we'd have beer thrown haphazardly at us by over-eager Oktoberfest goers [read: drunk men who were getting excited over True Faith's performance].

I swore to everybody I was with that day that I will never ever go to an Oktoberfest opening ever again.

Never ever again.

But hey, guess who was at San Miguel Avenue last September 5, trying to elbow her way in through the crowd, as *undesirable* people were rubbing themselves all over her body [I hope, unintentionally, of course]?

Yes, I've eaten my words, and *nom nom* hmm tastes good, if slightly bitter. Heh.

It was a gold ticket after all. 3eb + 5 beers + food + airconditioned tent = SULIT NA NOH. Kahit na sabihin na natin na we still had to go through hell to enter the venue and the VIP section, and that paubos na yung food when we got to the tent, and we only got 3 out of our 5 beers. Hehehe.

Okay feetur-teking time!

Zaturnaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...

Just got home from watching Zsazsa Zaturnnah with the PLG and Van.

I would like to give a big THANK YOU to Drei for giving us info about the musical play. The 800 bucks was sooooooooooo worth it. I think I've never heard so much putangina, punyeta and pakyu in a span of more than two hours. And I have never laughed so effing hard. Andami kong baong quotable quotes. Hehehehe.

Pictures with the cast!!!

Disco Queen

So, we had our 70's-inspired company Christmas party last week.

Guess who won Ms. Disco Queen? :P

Disco Queen

Nyehehehehe.

I would like to thank Bayo for my top, Dorothy Perkins for my jeans, my platform wedges from Mendrez, my gold necklace from Girlshoppe, big hoop earrings c/o my kris kringle daddy Jap and scarf/headband thingie from 168 mall. :P

Well, aside from the "look", we needed to show the 70's vibe, so there was this lame question-and-answer portion. For the guys, the question was "What is the relevance of bell-bottoms this holiday season?" or something like that. For us girls, it was "Why are you more than a woman?", obviously inspired by the Bee Gees hit More Than A Woman.

And my beauty-pageant answer? :D

Distractions

I can't believe I made it through 4 weeks already without any physical harm to my body! Pero there are people commenting I'm losing weight daw ha, including my mom (who usually tells me I'm getting bigger everytime I visit]. Hmmm. At least one good thing is coming out of this funk.

Mababaw man, but I'm currently loving this video. Sobrang kulit kasi, and sobrang nakakatawa kahit ilang beses ko ng napanood. Darice absolutely *loves* these two Chinese boys lip-synching Jessica Simpson's A Public Affair. She mimics their actions, and doesn't sing along to the song, she also lip-synchs too! Hahahha. I'll try to make a video of her doing that nga so that the two Chinese boys can have some competition hehehe.

So that I don't have to go to YouTube everytime I or Darice wants to view the video, we downloaded it off YouTube! Yup! Just go to YouTubex, enter the url of the YouTube video you want to download, and then YouTubex will download it for you as a flash video. And then I downloaded a free FLV player so I could play the flash video. The FLV player I downloaded was a basic one, wherein one cannot really zoom in or out of the video, so di ganon kalaki yung screen size. If you find a better flash video player, please tell me :D

Mga Plak-plak

With our exchanged gifts :)Been a long time since I heard the term plak-plak -- I will only hear this when I'm with my high school friends. [Ayan ha, if ever one of my high school friends reads this, friends tayo di lang tayo classmates hihiihihi]

Again, the last time I saw this group of people was during my wedding. :) I had dinner with them the same day I had lunch at Gayuma. Hehe, karirin ang mga friendly reunions in one day.

There were lots of food (two Yellow Cab pizza, a kilo of pasta, potato salad, ham and cheese roll, barbeque from Dannylicious, lechong manok and Goldilocks' "classic" choco roll), drinks (Ang-sarap! wine, Mudslide, 1.5 litre of San Mig Pale, bottles of San Mig Lite, Tequila Rose and Toska Vodka -- Naomi claims walang lasa daw kasi pure, sabi ko baka pure kerosene na yan ha), gossiping (lalo na yung mga absentees, talagang pinagtsismisan!), storytelling (a wedding and a break-up) and lots of singing (salamat sa MagicMic)!

Too bad I was still the Cinderella of the group and had to be home by 12 midnight. But before I left, I gave them a matinding rendition of Huwag Mo Nang Itanong by the Eraserheads and got a score of 97! Wooohoo! The highest score ever before I left the place. [Sana walang nakabeat ng high score ko!]

---

Seeing them reminds me how much I've changed (I was the dorkiest in the group, but I was the first to get knocked-up :P), how much we've accomplished after all these years, how much we've all grown up, but I could still see that nothing's changed with our friendship, and it's comforting in a way, to know that something from your childhood is still a living and breathing entity, and will never be lost.

For more than 10 years (we became a group during our second year in high school - that's around 1994-1995, shoot, bistado ang edad ko nito hehe), kahit meron ng college friends, college barkada, orgmates, labmates, officemates at kung sinu-sino pang group of people, never nawala ang high school friends sa aming vocabulary. I could not ask for a better high school barkada! Here's to 2006, for all of us!

Lunch @ Gayuma

Lunch @ GayumaAfter 10,000 long years, Kat, Trace and I finally got together again. The last time we were together was during my wedding! Haaay... it really has been too long :)

The highlight of this lunch was an announcement from Trace: She's getting married! ^_^

I'm so happy for her! And a little envious, because her boyfriend proposed to her in front of thousands (ahm sige hundreds lang) of people during her boyfriend's office Christmas party! Kakilig!

So most of lunch was spent brainstorming, giving tips and ideas, and just plain getting excited about the wedding! Of course, Kat will coordinate the wedding, as she did mine also, and she regrets not having a notebook with her: "Di ko alam meeting na pala ito eh". Haha, I remember those lunches and dinners Kat and I had, wherein we set an hour to talk as friends ["O sige, friends muna, game ano na yung kuwento mo?"], then after that, talk wedding business na ["Asan na yung pinapagawa kong CD/guestlist/souvenirs/table assignments?"]. Hehe.

Cheers to us girls! We'll definitely be seeing each other more this coming 2006!

Are You Ready to Par-tay?!?

First there was the company Christmas party with a rock theme at Phi Bar in Metrowalk.

Rock!Wigging OutAldoEmployee of the MonthTina Turner

Then came the IS Christmas party with a Hollywood theme.

There was a "little competition" going on between the different IS teams -- with little meaning it was just a small cash prize of 1500.00 pesos. The IS teams of MMS, FMS, and HRMS joined together to do a rendition of the famous John Travolta-Olivia Newton-John movie Grease. We did four songs in all, to capture the essence and gist of the movie: Summer Nights, Greased Lightning, You're the One that I Want, and We Go Together.

Entrance PoseGo, Greased Lightnin'I got chills, they're multiplyin', and I'm losin' controlYou're the one that I wantWaooo Yeah!

The other teams did Austin Powers, Rent and Footloose.

Oooh, and guess who won the "little competition"?

Congrats Grease Lightning! The Winning Team!ketket and mj fools around with the clapperOur clapper award

The winning factor in our presentation? Well, turns out all the judges are "wise beyond their years" [read: old] and they were familiar with the movie Grease :P Hahaha. That movie was shown in 1978 and I guess they were teenagers back then hehe.

Last Thursday, we splurged on Jollibee breakfast meals with our winning money, and had a last get-together with the FMS and HRMS teams. We watched our award-winning performance on video, and chills went up my spine - nakakahiya kasi ang sayaw ko hahahah :D

Then came the most awaited day of the week: Lechon Day on Friday!

Siomai for Breakfast!Lechon! Lechon! Lechon!PancitPurple Plate DistributionKuha na ng Pagkain!

Yes, we got to have lechon for our Christmas office party last Friday! Woohoo! Thank you Leonardo's for our great food :D We had pancit, dinuguan, lechon paksiw, lumpiang ubod, puto't kutsinta and siomai! Ang daming pagkain talaga!!!

Highlights of the day in pics:

Sorry if some of the pics are blurred. I had already downed three glasses of Vodka Sprite by lunch time :P Thanks Ton for the Vodka!

Good thing today's a holiday. I'm all partied out. Got sick for a while last Saturday, so I wasn't really able to enjoy Noche Buena. But I did make it to my parents' house yesterday all perked up already :)

Hope you guys had a great weekend :)

Rock FuSZion

Hard Rock meets Hippie RockAs expected, a lot of people came as hard metal rockers during our rock-themed Christmas party. I was the only one who thought of going as a hippie rocker, cool!

For the meantine, some pictures here. Still in the process of collecting pictures from other cameras.

Toodles!

[Andrei as a hard-rocking dude, and me as a spaced-out hippie dudette!]

Smashin' Rockin'

Christmas party season again.

For our company party, we're "encouraged" [because of the FuSZion Sportsfest -- more about that in future posts] to dress as smashin' rockin' rock stars.

Oh-kaaaaaay.

Remember last year I had a hard time choosing my costume?

I'm still having a hard time this year :P

I would loooooove to go as Alanis Morissette [during her Jagged Little Pill days], but I would just look like an overweight Alanis. I don't want people pointing at me and saying "Tignan mo yung matabang Alanis, o"

I can go as Avril Lavigne but I think I might need to wear a tank top or sando, which will make my arms would look like dangerous weapons. No way.

I think I can pull off a Janis Joplin, but not too many people know her. I would looove to wear 70's hippie rock fashion!

Maybe I should go as a guy. I've been eyeing Slash's look and I'm thinking maybe I could do that. Might get a hat, and the yosi is a chicken :P Might have the perm this weekend to really complete the look. Oh, and lots of fake tattoos din siguro noh? Haaay, keri kaya 'to?

Help me out peeps!!! I need a smashin' rockin' costume by this weekend. The party's on December 13. Are my ideas okay already, or do you have any other smashin' rockin' ideas? :)

At last, our company's outing was again held during the summer season. (Two years ago, it was during the Christmas season, and last year it was in September.)

Of course, beer bottles were opened on the way to Montemar! I didn't drink yet, 'coz I knew I had to preserve my energy (I was feeling a bit run down that week).

Extreme SportZ Beach Games

The last leg of games of our long-running sportsfest (we've been at it for 6 months na ata) were held during the outing. It was going to be White Team's last effort to be a consistent second place-er hahahah ^_^

There's kayak-ing, swimming and aquabiking for 4 team members.

First team to destroy the paper *bases* wins.

Sadly, we were eliminated during the prelims. Tsk tsk. Di na kami consistent ah.

X on the Beach

After the games, it was on to the party!!!

But first, awarding for the Extreme SportZ. Predictably, we got second place over all, and I got two awards. Hahaha. "Hihintayin Kita sa Langit Award" for the slowest speed climb during the wall climbing event, and "Regular Bowler Sana Award" for garnering the most number of pins during the extreme bowling event (wherein you had to score as low as you can hehehe).

On to the wild part of the party hehehe.

Tequila for the Newbies

A drinking race wherein two teams of newbies have to consume a bottle of El Hombre tequila in record time.

No salt and no chaser. And did I say already it was El Hombre tequila?

Tsk, tsk, good thing we didn't have to do this last year :P

Battle for the Sexes

*Randomly* picked guys and girls had to do crazy stunts for 5K and a date(?) with the mystery girl and guy searcher.

This game was an eye-opener.

As Toto said, his moral foundations were *shattered*. Hahahahah! ^_^

Beach Party!

click for more pictures!
As if we didn't party enough during dinner, we headed straight to the beach for dancing and more drinking.

As the band played for an hour and half, sweaty gyrating bodies grooved to the tunes of "Happy", "Footloose" and "Let Me Blow Ya Mind", to name a few. As more time was spent dancing, less effort was needed to pair up our favorite *couples* hehehe.

---

After all that, all I could do was to walk back to my room, wash up and change my clothes. Most of them went to the room next to ours for a round of drinking games. Good thing I slept early, as they finished up around 5 AM already.

---

Yes, I had a great time! Obvious ba? ^_^

It was the absolute best way to end Summer 2005 ;)
