Under Construction

Going to attempt to use the old design with Blogger Layouts.

Wish me luck!

Update: Aaaargh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoooo are you... who who who who...

As you can see, I am still obsessed about imeem.

---

So, a favorite past time of mine in the office while waiting for a kiddo's work, or waiting for a job to run, or waiting for my brain cells to warm up is to look at my Sitemeter. I get a kick out of the search words people use that make them land on my blog (most of the time it's about my employer), and how long they stay (around 0 seconds :P).

And I get a little starry-eyed when some unknown entity in the internet is searching for yours truly.

Yey! Long Weekend!

Ooh and the interview questions of course ;) And I really need to finish the FS (konting-konti na lang!!!).

Why all these activities lined up for this weekend?

I'm already fully-booked all weekends of June. Next Saturday we'll be watching Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah at RCBC Plaza. Then the Saturday after that will be a college friend's wedding. Then wouldn't you know it, on the 30th, the PLG goes to Cebu! Yey!

With school starting next week, I know I will have no more time for frivolous pursuits as I will be gearing up for Darice's studies (ako ang pressured sa grades nya eh! :P). That's why I'm trying to do as much as I can this weekend.

At least two things are for sure: Darice is going to my parents' house to spend the 3-day weekend with my family so that means more personal time to do those planned above. And the 3-day weekend will start with breakfast with two dear old friends.

So yey! Here's to the long weekend! :)

I hope you guys enjoy yours :D

Commercial Space

I've jumped the shark. [edited] I'm a sell-out. Again.

I put back the Google's AdSense into my blog. I think I put them in better spaces this time. Well, I hope so. Let's see if they generate at least one click this month.

And can you freaking believe the money being generated by sponsored posts?!?

Summer Lovin'

I was feeling the summer vibe this weekend -- my officemates are in Galera as of this moment (I didn't go as next week is Darice's exam week), I bought a new bikini (on sale!!!) and I'm starting to listen to my summer playlist.

Summer LovinAnd to up the ante, I made a new header, inspired by this layout, made last year during a scrapbooking challenge.

I used to *hate* summer the past few years (because of horrid memories). But I've learned to love the rays of the sun and the cool breeze of the beach and fond memories of trips with friends and loved ones.

Just one last hitch:

Blogging for Money

Yup, I've jumped the shark.

First it was the Google Ads. But I took it out also because, first I have no idea where to put them to generate enough money, and second, well, my blog's not that popular either so who the hell will click on those ads right?

So I took them out Google Ads.

And now, I'm trying out Blogvertise. Thanks to Aggie for the link, galing mong maghanap ng sideline mare ;)

New Header Again...

I think it was December last year when I used the Kubrick template from Blogger-templates. Wow. I was able to stick with that layout for one year. Kewl.

But I think the reason why I was able to stick to that layout is because every two months or so,

Un-migrating

Okay, I found it too tedious to add labels to 250+ posts for this blog. Besides, I was cringing at my brattiness and kababawan while reading my old posts.

And I really miss my template already. Huhuhu.

I guess I just have to wait for the official Blogger beta feature to add labels using the old templates.

[But the migrating was going to be a welcome distraction sana from current drama situation, but I think shopping at Topshop will be a more enjoyable endeavor hehehe]

Migrating

I've just migrated my blog to the new Blogger beta and I'm still tweaking stuff here and there so mejo magulo pa, hane? Pagpasensyahan.

I'm going to put labels on 200+ posts. Maryosep! Hahahaha.

Blogger Beta

A new version of Blogger is rolling out in beta.

Coolness! :D

I did a tour of the new Blogger beta by using one of my Google accounts. Ayan, another cool thing about the new Blogger is that you can login using your Google account. If you notice, dun sa login page ng Blogger, andun na yun, either login with your Blogger account or Google account. [That was the first indication for me that *something* was up in Blogger and Google so I tried using my three Google accounts to enter Blogger but to no avail. *sniff*sniff* So I just used my Blogger account then went to Buzz, baka kasi nahuli na naman ako sa balita. But no, it was something new that Blogger is offering its ... ahm... bloggers.]

Anyhoo, the new Blogger beta looks and works really cool, especially with those who want to fully costumize their blog's look and layout without having to deal with HTML. You can assign labels (I guess this would be their version of categories) to blog posts very easily. However labels will not work if you use old templates; your blog should be converted to the new layout system of Blogger beta. Another cool thing is you can control the people who can read your blog (either thru a Google account or as a guest with two-week access).

Some screen captures of my tour using my Google account:

And We're Back In The Game!

After a few days of nail-biting suspense, throwing options back and forth, dilly-dallying on the fate of our August outing, we finally decided to push through with our Cebu trip kahit na apat lang kami.

This should be interesting :P

And so, I booked us a room in Kota Beach Resort for our Bantayan Island sojourn. We were set initally to go to Malapascua, but these blog posts from Our Awesome Planet made me change my mind. Showing the pictures to my friends convinced them, too, so we're off for a three-day stay on that island.

After Bantayan Island, we're going to stay two more nights in Cebu city, and I booked us in the quadruple-sharing Deluxe room in NS Royale Pensione. I thought we shouldn't stay in a fairly expensive hotel because our flight home is very early in the morning -- hindi sulit if ever.

Biglang naexcite nako tuloy!!! Last week, parang waaaaaaaaaaaah, ngayon wooohooo! Hehehhe. Since S won't be able to join us, I think I might take charge of the itenerary and schedule for our 5-day stay in Cebu. Besides, apat na lang kami, kelangan maraming activities, or else boredom kami nyan sa Cebu hehehe.

Now, if only I can still pull off my beach look. Haha!

Just "re-launched" my crafty blog :) Will be posting there my artsy-fartsy attempts in the world of scraps -- sewing scraps and digi-scraps ;) Corny ba? :P Wehehehhe.

How I Made My Blog Header

For you, sunshineandraindrops :)

---

This was the template I started with for the new look of my blog. The template had three images: the header image, the footer image, the background image, and the blog body image. Since I wasn't really very particular about the color blue, I decided to change the colors to shades of purple, and of course changed the header to an image I can call my own.

I worked with these pictures:

Blogging With My New Phone!

I'm posting this using my new baby, a Nokia N91!

Unfortch, can't seem to access Blogger because I don't have my cookies
and Javascript enabled daw. Eh. I checked my Web settings nakaset

It doesn't get better, does it?
I keep expecting it to, but that old
thing about time is BULLSHIT!
It doesn't heal wounds.
It just makes them rot...

The Number of the Day is Three

Last year, when my blog turned two years old, I posted an article regarding blogging and masturbatory writing.

This year, the day just came and went. Hehe.

---

Haaay, it's been a long time since I had a decent post about something. The past few posts, all I write about is an update on my daily activities. Mundane, I tell you.

I want to sit down and clear my head and write.

I want to write good stuff. [The fact that I'm using the random word "stuff" is a clear indication that I am experiencing a severe case of writer's block.]

I want to write.

And although I have slipped again into the dark world of uninteresting writing, there are so many wonderful tales I have in store for you. Problem is that they're all in my head, spinning 'round and 'round gaining more subplots and what-nots, which is giving me a hard time translating them into plain old words.

Just don't expect the next post to be all poetic.

Well, good thing this blog is not making any complaints. Hehehe.

Thank you, my blog, for sticking with me for the past three years [as if you had a choice]. You've been with me through my rants and raves and rambles, with the occassional whapaaaaaaak writing, and week-long hiatus(es?!).

Even though I am so not this girl anymore, I still have the same concerns, insecurities and bitchfests. But I think I can say I handle them in a more mature, less !!!!-filled, introspective manner. [Although I still am prone to rant-filled posts]

I guess you could say celebrating my blog's birthday is like patting myself on my shoulder. Three years worth of life here in my blog and yes, I've been through another year of evolving drama and high-hopes and laughter and love and surprises.

No, we have been through another year. Because most importantly, a blog (or any written material for that matter) is nothing without the readers. And I thank you, dear faceless readers, for dropping by, saying hi, perusing a few words here and there, writing down a comment or two. There really is nothing else to say but a very heartfelt thank you. :D

psst... yosi tayo Here's to my blog, to you my readers, and to me!

My SideBlog - Back from the Grave

I used to have a SideBlog for the Kuwentong Litrato part in my sidebar, but last year when there were talks of it going kaput, I stopped using it. I didn't want to get used to using something then just have it taken away. [Hmmm... I think that statement says a lot about my guiding principles in life :P]

I just noticed that as time passed by, dontpanicitsorganic and sedricke were still using their SideBlog. Cool, that meant SideBlog survived! I just didn't know then, with my previous layout, where or how I was going to use my SideBlog.

And so, with the new layout and everything, I'm resurrecting my SideBlog for Libro, Kanta and Pelikula portions of the sidebar. It's now under one "header" -- Kinagigiliwan. Easier for me, because I don't have to edit the template every time I'm obsessing about a new book, song or film. I just have to post from SideBlog, and voila, Kinagigiliwan is updated!

---

Yes, I'm getting obsessive about this template/layout thing. I think I still have a few tricks to implement.

Toodles!

Tweaking

Installed a Shoutbox for tagging purposes. I had a hard time last night customizing my shoutbox. So many themes, so many choices, so little time to decide!

Implemented some JavaScript tricks from here to see if it will make my sidebar look a lot less cluttered.

Nope, not really satisfied. Gusto kong ibalik sa dati! The visitor won't really know there's a submenu hiding behind the "Tara, yosi tayo?" and "The Filipina Movement" words. So, hindi naman talaga nila iki-click and makikita yung menu under that. [Well, now that you know, go ahead and click the damn words! :P] I don't want to put a "Click here..." note, but it looks like I might have to.

Still a lot of tweaking to do. Toodles!

New Layout

Hmm... so I've got a new layout.

Been wanting to do an overhaul of the layout for months now but I've been too busy to go about it. Oh well, thank you Christmas holidays :)

I think I still have a little tweaking to do here and there.

Haven't had the time to look at the codes, though.

So, any violent reactions, suggestions and comments regarding my new layout?

P.S. I scrapped my HaloScan commenting system. Blogger comments nako :)

On Masturbatory Writing

An article by apocalypse in Peyups have this to say about bloggers:

As I see it, all these self-glorifications and me-I-centric musings are nothing but pure masturbation and ego-massage. Such bloggers are then reduced to just another senseless writer – anonymous and voiceless.

---

Blogging is masturbatory. It aims to please the author, as the author can write what he wants, may it be his political opinions, his social concerns, his leanings toward certain movies, or his daily experiences while he commutes. We cannot impose how to do it, and why he has to do it. The author has his own style, his own thoughts, and his own reasons.

As the article said, most Philippine blog authors are masturbatory writers. This is because we've only taken a few baby steps into the blogosphere. Some people really have to start out as masturbatory writers for self-exploration as the most important thing for them are their own daily experiences. These experiences are what makes their world go round and that is what they will write about. We cannot argue with that.

But, as with masturbation, self-gratification is never enough. What then follows after masturbatory writing? Why, intellectual intercourse, that's what!

---

Take my blog, for instance. I made this blog way back in May 2003 to rant, rave and ramble. Well, if you read my first few posts, there's a lot more rants in there. I needed to rant, and I found my own private space to do it. It was pure masturbatory writing, as I aimed only to please myself.

A few months after I started my blog, I knew I had to be more creative, more reflective, as my posts were so uncoherent and so rant-y. I then resolved for a *central theme* for my blog: as an outlet for my stories as a mom, a student (then), a sister, a daughter, a pseudo-wife, and most importantly, as a woman. [see my side bar, pagpapakilala]

And that was when my writing evolved (I hoped it did): rants, raves and rambles are few and far in between. This is because after a really heartfelt experience, I don't write about it immediately. I take time to digest what it really has done to me: are my initial reactions logical, do i have to feel guilty about it, what possible life-long impact has it made on my life? Questions like that reach deep inside of me, and turns my soul inside out. And what you get are articles like these, which bares my heart and soul to the world (wide web).

It was then that I realized that I have to write for an audience, not only for me. Writing for an audience made me more conscious of what was more important to write about, so that they too can learn from what I have experienced, from what I have learned, and from what I already know. It was then that I embraced the fact that blogging is all about sharing information, a mutualistic relationship, an intellectual intercourse.

---

It is impossible to ask all bloggers to write more effectively, more coherently, more relevantly, as soon as we start a blog. We have to take baby steps, try to see where we fit in the blogging community, and find out what we really want to write about. It really is like masturbating, as starting a blog is, I repeat, basically self-exploration, and self-gratification. But, as the cliche goes, no man is an island, and no one can go by masturbation alone for the rest of his/her life. There will always be a need for interaction between humans. We will then be more aware of our daily experiences with others, more reflective of our day-to-day life in our communites, more observant of the goings-on around us. It is then we will write what we think is important for the world to find out.

And it will not just be all about me, the blogger.

It can be about us women, us men, us gays. It can be about us Filipinos. It can be about us employees: us underemployed, overemployed, unemployed. It can be about us mothers, us fathers, us sisters, us brothers. It can be about us betrayed, us loved, us heartbroken, us elated, us lonely, us angry, us happy.

It will all eventually be about us: me, the blogger, and you, dear reader.

But it is long evolutionary process, and it may take a long time.

We just have to be patient.

---

Disclaimer: I am not saying I'm not a masturbatory writer anymore. There really are times I have to spend quality time pleasuring myself. That is through writing, of course, you dirty minds! :P

---

I started writing this first week of April, but then paputol-putol yung pagsusulat ko. So I decided to have it published on the 2nd anniversary of this blog.

Happy Two Years, Blog! ^_^
